Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 July 2026
Blossom (“we”, “us”) is a neighbourhood book-borrowing app. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — including how to delete your account and data. By using Blossom you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account — when you sign in via our identity provider (Auth0), we receive your email address and a unique account identifier, and store your display name.
- Location — approximate and/or precise location you provide to place a listing or search for books near you. You control this via your device’s location permission.
- Content you create — books you list or shelve, photos of your books, and messages you send to other users through in-app chat.
- Transactions — records of borrow requests, pickups, returns, and their status (deposits and fees are processed by our payments provider; we do not store card numbers).
- Device — a push-notification token (if you enable notifications) and basic diagnostic/usage data to keep the service reliable.
How we use your information
- To operate core features: listings, neighbourhood search, borrowing, and chat.
- To authenticate you and secure your account.
- To send you relevant notifications (e.g. a book you wishlisted is relisted).
- To maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the service.
Sharing & third-party services
We do not sell your personal information. We use trusted providers strictly to run Blossom:
- Auth0 — authentication (sign-in).
- Microsoft Azure — hosting, database, and file storage.
- Stripe — payment processing for deposits and fees.
- Google Books / Open Library — book metadata lookups by ISBN.
- Expo — delivery of push notifications and app updates.
- Google Maps — map display for listings.
We may disclose information if required by law.
Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account we remove your personal data as described below, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your Blossom account and associated personal data at any time:
- In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account, then confirm. This permanently removes your profile, listings, shelves, photos, chat messages, and push token, and revokes your sign-in. Active borrows must be completed or cancelled first.
- By email: if you can’t access the app, email blossom-support@blossom-studios.com from your account email address and we will delete your data within 30 days.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and secrets are stored in a managed key vault. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
Blossom is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
